THE HISTORY OF CHUDLEIGH HOUSE SCHOOL
Chudleigh House School opened its doors to the public in 1991. It has continued to maintain high standards and commitment towards a brighter future for our children. We aim to develop children’s morals, ambitions and values in addition to educational excellence. Concentration in this faculty is on reading, listening skills and pre- math. Children also learn sorting, counting, matching and classification of Data. Children; through all these activities gain self-confidence.
Our School was founded in 1991 and officially opened by Mr. J.M. Mwanakatwe SC, a prominent Educationalist, Lawyer and politician on the 16th of July 1993. We are located on Plot 11289, East Road, Chudleigh, in a serene and academically conducive environment.
The Institution prides itself with availability of excellent physical infrastructure which includes a Computer Laboratory, a Library, Science Laboratories, Art room, Music room,E-learning Center, Canteen and thirty one (31) Classrooms complemented with world class educational tools and teaching aids. ABOUT OUR FOUNDER -PETRONELLA CHISANGA
The vision of starting a School was the brainchild of Mrs Petronella Chisanga. She was teacher for 5 years and retired in National interest, she had unfinished business in the Education sector and coupled with her having been in the corporate world as Managing Director of Zambia National Holdings Ltd for 13 years, she felt it was time to go back to the Education sector.
The idea was to invest in a business that could sustain itself as well as respond to some need in the community. Hence, the birth of a Private School. She invited four of her friends to invest in the project; these were Mrs Dorothy Kasanda, Mrs. Lucy Musonda, Mrs Lalita Money who are all teachers and Mrs Maud Moonzwe who is a registered nurse; they helped clarify the strategy.
Unfortunately, within a year three left the country and one joined another education institution and therefore could not participate in the daily execution of the project. I was not discouraged and pushed on and with encouragement from Mr Ernest Makasa who helped in putting the curriculum together and advised on required books, equipment and teacher recruitment.
